1. Smeg BCC02
This sleek compact and striking machine, created by Milan-based company Deep Design combines the brand's retro aesthetic with the latest technology. It handles every step of the coffee-making process - from grinding beans and tamping the beans into a puck to mixing milk and dispense the correct amount of coffee - meaning you can make high-quality barista hot drinks by pressing one button.
The machine is also available in red, black, or taupe. It can easily be incorporated into any kitchen style. It's not without faults, however. Many reviewers felt that it was quite expensive for a cup to bean maker (and it doesn't come with an ice cube).
But there were also many glowing reviews of the quality of the coffee as well as the ease of use of this machine. bean-to-cup coffee machines is intuitive and provides an easy-to-follow guideline and feedback throughout the entire making process, allowing you to improve your coffee every time. It will even prompt you to tweak the size of the grind if it's not exactly right. It's like having your own personal barista at home (minus Elon Musk's rocket building skills and Harry Potter's invisible cape).
If you prefer drinks with milk, this model features an adjustable steam wand that can be adjusted up and down to accommodate the majority of drinking vessels that aren't equipped with a Viking's drinking horn. We were also awed by the speed and efficiency at the way that the frothing was performed. It also makes an excellent espresso, with a great crema and full flavor despite its compact size.
The BCC02 is an excellent all-rounder, quiet and efficient and provides great value for money, especially at its current price of PS499. Its only real drawback is that it doesn't provide the same degree of customization like some of the other bean-to-cups we've tested. It has a pump that has 15 bars instead of the usual 19 bars. This is not as good for producing high-quality espressos. Other than that it's a fantastic bean to cup machine for those who like their coffee strong and black.
